Removing financial barriers for underprivileged youth to access hockey, while supporting mental health and addiction recovery through community partnerships.
January 23, 1987 - April 22, 2024

Bryce was extremely fun and charismatic to be around, especially when he was at his healthiest. A perfectionist and systems person at heart, he had an incredible gift for teaching—he could sit down with anyone and patiently explain anything with genuine love and support.
Hockey was Bryce's compass. Growing up, making friends was tough for him, but hockey brought community, structure, and belonging. His career spanned from the NAHL Fairbanks Ice Dogs in 2004 to the USHL Tri-City Storm and Lincoln Stars, then to the University of Alaska Anchorage (2007-2010), and finally the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL.
After playing professionally, Bryce became a beloved youth hockey coach and private goalie coach, even leading a youth team to Nationals. His passion for the game and for helping young goalies master their craft was infectious.
Bryce didn't just play hockey—he poured his heart into giving back to the community that shaped him. His commitment to service touched countless lives across Alaska, from youth players to Special Olympics athletes to families in need.
The Bonnie Cusack Memorial Tournament: One of Bryce's proudest achievements was organizing and hosting the Bonnie Cusack Memorial Hockey Tournament on December 20, 2014, at the new Bonnie Cusack Outdoor Rink near Ben Boeke. During this 3v3 event, the community rallied together and collected three sleighs overflowing with toys for Toys for Tots—a cause that was deeply meaningful to Bryce.

Special Olympics: Bryce dedicated his time and expertise to working with Special Olympics athletes, sharing his love of hockey and helping athletes of all abilities experience the joy of the game.
One-on-One Coaching: As a private goalie coach, Bryce invested countless hours mentoring young goalies, patiently teaching technique and building confidence. His personalized approach helped aspiring goalies master their craft while instilling values of dedication, resilience, and sportsmanship. Whether coaching full teams to championship victories or working individually with a struggling player, Bryce showed up with unwavering passion and generosity.
Bryce struggled with opioid addiction, which began with hockey injuries and deepened after the loss of his mother. Mental health challenges made it difficult for him to connect and find support. Despite achieving 10 months of sobriety in Arizona, Bryce relapsed and tragically lost his battle on April 22, 2024.
Bryce was a loving father of two, a beloved son, and a devoted older brother. While attending UAA, he studied General Business Administration and Management and worked as a Behavioral Health Technician at Perfect Fit, always striving to help others even as he faced struggles of his own.
"Bryce was an incredible hockey player and an incredible person who loved to support his community. His passion exuded from him whenever he spoke about something he cared about."
The Bryce Christianson Foundation was created to honor Bryce's legacy by supporting causes close to his heart. The foundation focuses on two key areas: helping Alaska hockey players who are struggling with substance abuse, and providing financial assistance to players in need.
Through awareness, support, and direct assistance, we aim to bridge the gap for talented players who face challenges similar to those Bryce experienced. By doing so, we strive to ensure that Bryce's memory lives on through the lives we support and the opportunities we help create.

The Bryce Christianson Foundation was created to honor Bryce's legacy by supporting causes close to his heart. The foundation focuses on three key areas:
Providing financial assistance to Alaska hockey players who cannot afford registration fees, equipment, or travel expenses, ensuring every young athlete has the opportunity to play the game they love.
Supporting individuals struggling with substance abuse by partnering with rehabilitation facilities, treatment centers, and recovery organizations to provide resources and pathways to healing.
Addressing mental health challenges in everyday life by collaborating with healthcare organizations, licensed therapists, and counseling services to ensure accessible support for those in need.
Sports can change the trajectory of a child's life — but access is not equal. At the same time, mental health struggles and addiction impact individuals and families across every community.
The Bryce Christianson Foundation was created to bridge these gaps by providing opportunity, support, and connection. Through youth hockey sponsorships and partnerships with mental health and addiction-focused organizations, we aim to create lasting impact where it is needed most.
